Motherhood is holy work

When I first became a mother, I often felt overwhelmed by the endless cycle of tasks. The diaper changes, the constant meal prep, the never-ending laundry pile, the boo-boos that needed kissing – it all felt so repetitive and, honestly, a bit mundane. There were days I wondered if I was truly making an impact, or if my efforts were simply going unnoticed in the grand scheme of things. It’s easy to feel invisible when your 'work' often happens behind closed doors, without applause or recognition. But over time, I’ve come to understand a profound truth: motherhood is, indeed, holy work. It's a ministry within the walls of my own home, a sacred calling that shapes eternal souls. The Bible often speaks of serving others, and what greater service is there than nurturing and guiding the little ones entrusted to our care? Even if no one else sees the quiet moments of sacrifice, the patient teaching, or the comforting hugs, God sees it all. He sees the love poured into each made lunch, the dedication in every folded piece of laundry, and the compassion in every whispered prayer over a sleeping child. My home is my primary place of ministry. This perspective has fundamentally shifted how I approach my daily routines. Instead of viewing dinner preparation as a chore, I see it as an act of nourishment for my family, a way to gather them and connect. Doing laundry isn’t just about clean clothes; it's about providing comfort and care. Each story read, each scraped knee bandaged, each tantrum navigated with grace – these are all opportunities to embody Christ's love and teach my children about His unwavering presence. It’s a messy ministry, for sure. Motherhood isn't always neat and tidy, but in its beautiful chaos, I find God’s grace. It’s in these very moments of giving, of self-sacrifice, that I feel most connected to my purpose. This isn't just about surviving motherhood; it's about thriving in it, recognizing the spiritual significance of every small act. It's about remembering that the seemingly insignificant tasks are, in fact, laying the foundation for future generations, instilling values, and showing unconditional love. This realization has transformed my perspective, turning daily duties into joyful offerings and my home into a truly sacred space.
