WIEIAD 22 weeks pregnant 🤰🏻

Here’s everything I ate today! My toddler blessed me with adding a piece of bread in my tea so I had half of that, then some of my scrambled eggs, a piece of brownie I made for Valentine’s Day, a chicken wrap with a cutie and strawberries, and a grilled cheese burrito, a taco and some fries from @tacobell . Today was a good food day 🤤 I’ve noticed I’ve been starving the last few days so I’m just eating what sounds great ATM.

My 'What I Ate In A Day' post highlighted how real those pregnancy cravings and the constant feeling of being "starving" can get during the second trimester. It's like your body suddenly demands *all the food*, and sometimes, only specific things will do. At 22 weeks, your baby is growing rapidly, which means your body is working overtime and needs extra fuel. This is why a balanced pregnancy diet becomes so important, not just for the baby but for your energy levels too. When I was prepping my scrambled eggs for breakfast, I was thinking about protein – it’s a powerhouse for baby’s development and helps keep you feeling full longer. Adding some spinach to those eggs is a fantastic way to sneak in extra iron and folate, which are crucial during pregnancy. Lunchtime often calls for something quick yet satisfying. My chicken wrap was a go-to, packed with lean protein. If you're looking to mix it up, consider making a similar wrap with thinly sliced lean beef. The "lean beef pregnancy meal" query is so relevant because lean meats provide essential iron, preventing fatigue, and vitamin B12, vital for nerve health. Just make sure any meat is thoroughly cooked! Adding plenty of fresh veggies like the lettuce and tomatoes I used, plus a side of vibrant strawberries and a sweet mandarin orange, ensures you're getting a good dose of vitamins and fiber. Fiber is your friend when pregnant, helping to keep digestion smooth! Now, let's talk about cravings, especially when a Taco Bell meal featuring a taco, fries, and a grilled cheese burrito makes an appearance! It's completely normal to have those intense urges, and sometimes, you just have to give in a little. The key is balance. While enjoying a treat, you can also think about how to incorporate healthier options throughout the rest of your day. For instance, if you're craving something cheesy, a homemade whole-wheat quesadilla with low-fat cheese and lots of salsa can be a delicious alternative to a grilled cheese burrito. Or, if fries are calling your name, try baking sweet potato fries at home for added nutrients. Hydration is another unsung hero of pregnancy. Remember that yellow mug in my post? While mine had bread in it (thanks, toddler!), filling it with water or herbal tea throughout the day is essential. Staying well-hydrated can help with common pregnancy discomforts like constipation and even reduce swelling. To manage those constant hunger cues and ensure you're getting enough nutrients, I found it helpful to keep healthy snacks readily available. Think Greek yogurt, a handful of nuts, or pre-cut fruit like those strawberries and mandarin oranges. Eating smaller, more frequent meals can also help stabilize blood sugar and keep hunger at bay. It’s all about listening to your body while trying to nudge your choices towards nutrient-dense options most of the time.
