7 Years of Knitting- Here's What I Learned

My mother taught me to knit when I was a child, but I started knitting in earnest when I left home for college.

It was a way for me to remain close with my mother. We traded tips and patterns, and she let me grab whatever I wanted from her extensive leftover yarn stash.

Over time, this hobby became my identity. I was the girl who would knit in class. People would ask me about it: if what I was wearing was handmade, if it was hard to focus on class and knit, and why did I knit so much?

The answer to thay last question is that knitting is when I'm at peace. The repetitive motions become hypnotic and I'm calmed by them. They remind me of my mother. Of my home.

If you also knit or do any other fiber arts, please share! I'd love to meet other crafter here!

I love knitting but I have to follow a pattern. I can’t do freehand. I would love to learn crocheting.
