Me Made May Week 1
Day 1: Coers et Fleurs hat
Day 4: Cataphyll socks
Day 5: Ribblesdale Vest
Day 6: Daisy Chain Kerchief
Day 7: Forty Love Vest
My goal for Me Made May is to wear items I haven't touched in a while, and to find ways to upcycle the items I'm not wear much.
Participating in Me Made May offers a wonderful opportunity to breathe new life into handmade garments that might otherwise be forgotten in your wardrobe. From my own experience, setting a goal to focus on items not frequently worn encourages creativity and sustainability. For example, a vest or kerchief you made months ago can be styled in fresh ways or combined with new accessories to suit current trends or seasons. Upcycling is not just about wearing old clothes differently but also about modifying or enhancing them. Simple changes like adding embroidery, patchwork, or even combining fabrics can transform an unused piece into a statement item. This process not only extends a garment's life but also makes your wardrobe uniquely personal. During Me Made May Week 1, trying out diverse handmade items like hats, socks, and vests helped me appreciate the texture, design, and craftsmanship behind each piece. Sharing such daily outfits within the #memademay community also provides inspiration and support, making the journey enjoyable and motivating. Engaging with handcrafted fashion encourages mindful consumption and reduces the environmental impact of the fast-fashion industry. Beyond that, it's a rewarding way to connect with your creativity and celebrate your handiwork. Whether you knit, sew, or craft in other ways, dedicating a month to wearing and reinventing your creations is a fulfilling challenge that enriches your fashion experience.
