✨S-Note vs Zebra Mildliners - Which is Better?🖌️

I bought the 12-pack Sharpie S-Note markers to test against their most similar Mildliner color counterparts. I used Pilot G2 0.7 gel black and colored pens which I let dry for 2 hours to prevent smearing. Still, the lighter S-Note colors had a problem smearing with the black pen.

My overall opinion is that I still like Mildliners better because they’re double-ended, have a thicker highlighter head, and I prefer the more desaturated colors. The S-Note has a “2 in 1” head that I find more difficult to use, and its colors are less see-through.

HOWEVER! If price is a big thing for you to consider I would highly recommend S-Note considering it’s very inexpensive compared to Mildliners and a full set of all 36 colors is only around $30 on Amazon. The largest 30 pack of Mildliners on Amazon goes for $32 and is still missing the 5 markers in the Gentle pack which goes for around $10, making the full set about $42.

2024/7/22 Edited to

... Read moreAfter diving deep into the Sharpie S-Note versus Zebra Mildliner debate, I hope my initial comparison helped you pinpoint a favorite! But let's be real, choosing the perfect highlighter for your study sessions or bullet journal isn't just about two brands. There's a whole world of "good pens for note taking" out there, and what works for one person might not work for another. So, let me share a few more personal insights and tips I've picked up on my stationery journey to help you make the best choice, especially when you're looking at different "highlighter pen" options or even "best highlighter brands stationery." One of the biggest headaches I've faced, and something that came up with the S-Notes, is smearing. It's the absolute worst when you've just written something important with your favorite gel pen, only to have your highlighter drag the ink across the page. My go-to advice? Always let your ink dry *completely*. I usually aim for at least 15-30 minutes, or even longer for heavily inked pens, before going in with a highlighter. If you're impatient like me, opt for highlighters specifically marketed as 'smear-proof' or 'quick-dry.' Also, lighter, more translucent highlighter colors tend to smear less than very opaque ones, as they deposit less liquid ink. The S-Note's 'more opaque' nature might contribute to its 'smears more' issues, while the Mildliner's 'more translucent' quality helps it avoid this. Next up, let's talk about color and clarity. As I mentioned, I prefer the 'more desaturated colors' of Mildliners for a reason. While 'brighter colors' from S-Notes might pop initially, sometimes overly vibrant or opaque highlighters can actually make the text beneath harder to read, especially if you're highlighting dense paragraphs. For me, the goal is to make key information stand out without overwhelming the page. 'Mildliner swatches' often showcase a beautiful pastel palette that's easy on the eyes, making them ideal for long study sessions. If you're someone who likes to color-code extensively, having options that are 'more translucent' means you can layer colors without everything turning into a muddy mess. And what about the tip design? This is where 'double ended!' highlighters like Mildliners really shine for versatility. Having both a broad chisel tip for highlighting and a fine bullet tip for underlining or writing small notes is a game-changer. The 'thinner, longer tip' of the S-Note, while potentially useful for precise lines, can feel less substantial for broader highlighting tasks. When I'm looking for "fine liners" or markers, I always consider how the tip feels in my hand and whether it can handle both broad strokes and detailed work. Finally, budget versus longevity. The article touched on the 'less expensive' nature of S-Notes compared to 'more expensive' Mildliners. While it's tempting to always go for the 'budget-friendly option,' sometimes investing a little more pays off in the long run. Consider how much you'll be using them. A cheaper highlighter that dries out quickly or runs out of ink fast might end up costing you more in replacements. My personal trick is to read reviews about ink capacity and cap seal quality. A good seal prevents premature drying! Ultimately, whether you pick 'zebra mildliner' or 'sharpie s-note' or explore other 'best highlighter brands stationery,' it all comes down to your personal workflow and preferences. Don't be afraid to try a few different types to see what truly enhances your notetaking experience!
