REVEALING MY GR REVIEWS👀
First post!! Thought of revealing how my goodreads reviews look like. Want to be friends with me on gr? Please dm because I would love to have more friends on there!!
Okay, so you've seen a peek at my 'unhinged' Goodreads reviews, and maybe you're wondering, 'Why even bother?' For me, Goodreads isn't just about tracking what I've read; it's a personal journal of my reading journey. Every book leaves an impression, and writing a review, even if it's just a few lines, helps me process that. It's like having a little chat with my future self about what I loved, what frustrated me, or what just completely blew my mind. It’s a space where I can be completely honest about my reading experience without any pressure. When I say 'unhinged,' I really mean honest. You saw my 4-star for 'Surviving Romance, Vol. 7' where I called it a 'horrifying thriller' – that's my unfiltered reaction! I don't feel pressured to give a perfect review or only praise books. If 'Heir of Fire' felt long and I needed a break from the multiple POVs, I'm going to say it. It's about being authentic to my reading experience, whether a book was a pure delight or a bit of a slog. Take 'A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire,' for instance. That 5-star rating wasn't just for the story, but also for the amazing audiobook narrator and the author's descriptive language that painted such vivid scenes in my mind. The way the words flowed just immersed me completely. Or 'An Enchanting Dare' – that was a pure 5-star joy, a light, comforting book with incredible world-building and character development that just made me smile. Sometimes a quote just captures it all perfectly, and I love dropping those into my reviews to remember a specific moment or feeling. So, how do I actually write these reviews? Usually, I jot down immediate thoughts right after finishing. Did it make me cry? Laugh? Did I stay up all night reading? What characters stuck with me? What plot twists did I love or hate? I don't follow a strict template, but I try to cover my overall feeling, what I liked, what I didn't, and who I'd recommend it to. Sometimes it's a paragraph, sometimes it's just a few bullet points, but it's always me and my genuine reaction. Goodreads is also such a great community. I love seeing what my friends are reading and discovering new books through their reviews. If you're looking to start reviewing or want to connect with other readers, just be yourself! Share your true feelings, even if they're a little 'unhinged.' It makes your reviews unique and relatable. Don't be afraid to give lower ratings if a book just didn't work for you, or gush endlessly about a 5-star read like 'An Enchanting Dare' if it truly captivated you. The most important thing is to have fun with it and enjoy sharing your love for books. Seriously, slide into my DMs on here if you want to be Goodreads friends – I'm always looking for more bookish pals!
