New Moon in Sagittarius | Poetry

sidestepping the apocalypse

is sort of a talent or coping mechanism

or wild brand of hope

dreaming bigger than big

is the way through

conjuring the impossible

leaves pathways

that humble and hold

maybe it could be closer

than it looks:

the dawn that always rises

maybe the light returns

because we believe it can

maybe drowning in sadness

reminds us of our buoyancy

that we are made of salt

and water

solid and fluid

able to dissolve

into itself (if only briefly)

with enough agitation

with enough dreaming

to shake stillness

awake

Read moreWow, what an intense and hopeful energy this New Moon in Sagittarius on November 30, 2024 (or December 1st for some of us, depending on your time zone, especially if you're on the Pacific coast!) brings! As I penned the poem you just read, I was deeply reflecting on how we navigate life's tougher moments. For me, the Sagittarius New Moon always feels like a powerful call to expand our horizons, to dream past the immediate challenges, and truly believe in the impossible. It’s that fiery, optimistic energy guiding us to look beyond what’s right in front of us and envision a brighter future. This particular New Moon, occurring late on November 30th Pacific time, really resonated with the idea of finding buoyancy even when we feel like we're drowning in sadness. You know that feeling, right? When the world feels heavy, and it's hard to see the light. But just like the poem mentions, we are 'made of salt and water'—inherently connected to the cycles of nature, capable of immense resilience and flow. It’s a powerful reminder that even in sadness, there’s an inherent ability to rise again, to dissolve into ourselves briefly for renewal. For those curious about the astrological side, a New Moon in Sagittarius is all about new beginnings in areas like truth, exploration, philosophy, and big dreams. It's a fantastic time to set intentions related to travel, learning, spiritual growth, or simply expanding your personal worldview. I often use this period to journal about my biggest, wildest aspirations, completely unchained by 'realism.' What new adventures call to you? What beliefs are you ready to expand or challenge? This isn't just about dreaming; it's about shaking stillness awake and actively conjuring possibilities. I've found that embracing the spirit of the Archer, aiming high and far, helps me sidestep feeling overwhelmed. It’s not about ignoring difficulties, but about cultivating that 'wild brand of hope' that fuels us forward. This New Moon encourages us to tap into our inner wisdom and trust the journey, even when the path isn't clear. It’s about conjuring the impossible and trusting that the universe will create pathways for our boldest visions. So, whether you're feeling solid or fluid, remember your incredible capacity to adapt and dream. What will you conjure under this inspiring New Moon? Let's dream bigger together!
