One beach that really stood out to me was El Espino Beach. While technically in Usulután, it’s easily accessible from San Miguel and La Unión and offers a completely different vibe. It's much more tranquil and less developed, perfect if you're looking to escape the crowds and just enjoy the peace and quiet. I recommend taking a long walk along the shore here; the sense of serenity is unparalleled. And for something truly unique, don't miss the chance to explore the beaches near the Gulf of Fonseca in La Unión. Playas Negras, with its distinctive dark sand, offers a fascinating contrast to the golden beaches elsewhere. It’s a great spot for photography and experiencing a different geological side of El Salvador. It felt like stepping onto another planet with its volcanic sands! Beyond the mainland, the islands in the Gulf of Fonseca are absolutely enchanting. Taking a boat trip to places like Isla Conchaguita or Isla Zacatillo was one of the highlights of my journey.
