While the falls themselves aren't a spot for sunbathing, many visitors, myself included, look for ways to relax by the water after the excitement. And you know what? While not directly adjacent to the thunderous cascades, a short drive opens up a world of sandy shores perfect for a day trip. I was pleasantly surprised to find how many lovely spots there are for swimming, sunbathing, or just enjoying a lakeside breeze. And if you're looking for more of a resort-style beach experience, Sherkston Shores is nearby, offering a huge private beach with loads of activities, though it often requires a day pass or staying at their resort. I haven't personally stayed there, but friends rave about the amenities. It's a whole different vibe, perfect if you want to combine the natural beauty with a bit more structured fun. When planning your beach day near Niagara Falls, remember to pack your essentials: sunscreen, a hat, plenty of water, and some snacks. Many of these beaches have facilities, but it’s always good to be prepared. Also, consider the time of year; summer is obviously peak season, but late spring and early fall can offer beautiful, quieter days. Combining the awe-inspiring power of Niagara Falls with the serene beauty of a nearby beach truly makes for an unforgettable Canadian getaway.
