What is abrosexuality?
Abrosexuality is when a person’s sexual orientation changes over time. It falls under the multisexuality umbrella along with bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, and omnisexual.
In my experience, I go through periodic changes in my sexual preferences. Throughout my life I’ve experienced attractions to men, women, nonbinary people, and even nobody at all.
Most of the time I’m demisexual/demiromantic but the genders of the people I’m attracted to and the intensity changes regularly.
Most people have never heard of abrosexuality so unless they’re willing to learn, I just say I’m bi, a lesbian, gay, etc. depending on my own fluctuating gender identity and the gender(s) I’m currently attracted to.

Many encounter skepticism, often hearing phrases like "That's not real," or being lumped inaccurately into pansexuality. These misconceptions can lead to feelings of isolation and invisibility. Furthermore, the fluctuating nature of abrosexual attraction can make self-identification difficult, especially before individuals discover the term. It’s also important to clarify that the fluid sexual orientation of abrosexuals does not imply a lack of serious romantic attachments. While attraction may shift, deep emotional bonds and love are just as valid and meaningful. For instance, the variations in attraction intensity or gender focus do not mean that feelings for a partner diminish if they are truly significant, such as beyond a crush. Support for abrosexual people includes educating oneself and others about the concept, listening without judgment, and fostering inclusive environments where all sexual orientations are respected. Recognizing abrosexuality as a legitimate and valid identity promotes a sense of belonging and affirms diverse human experiences. Allies and members of the LGBTQIA+ community can help by advocating for greater awareness and acceptance, ensuring that abrosexual individuals feel seen and valued. Ultimately, embracing abrosexuality enriches the understanding of human sexuality as fluid rather than fixed. It reminds us to approach identity with openness, compassion, and a willingness to learn, creating spaces where everyone can express their true selves safely and proudly.
