December 22, 2025 - The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Species mobilizes an urgent operation to take five lives of rare wildlife behind the Marine Corps Trat task force, detected, left in a critical state, inside a casino on the Cambodian side, across from the Thai-Cambodian border.
The Director General of the National Park Service revealed that, later coordinated by the Chanthaburi and Trad Border Protection Command, the National Park Service did not delay, ordering the Wildlife Conservation Bureau to immediately organize a team of veterinarians and staff into the area to rescue wildlife in a distressing state.
All the wildlife consists of a pair of male and female lions, two buffalo bears and a dog bear, five lives in total, locked in an unattended cage, a skinny body, clearly seen ribs, a long lack of water and food, in crisis!!
When the veterinary team accessed the area, symptoms had to be carefully assessed. Because the animal was very weak, anesthesia was high risk, the staff had to take close care of the symptoms, monitor vital signs at all stages before moving out of the vulnerable area.
Operation Mobility was filled with urgency and pressure. Over 20 soldiers and officers helped transport the animals out of the crash site amid the limitations of the border route so that the five animals could live out of stress and danger as soon as possible.
Most recently, the convoy has left the area successfully, sending all three bears to be rehabilitated at the Bang Muang Chonburi Wildlife Culturing Station and sending a pair of lions to the Pine Royal Wildlife Culturing Station, expected to arrive safely within the same night with a veterinary team prepared for close supervision.
