🍵Rating Matcha in East Village NYC pt.1

... Read moreMy matcha journey through the East Village has just begun, and what an adventure it's been! This neighborhood is truly a matcha paradise, and I'm thrilled to share a deeper dive into some of the spots that caught my eye and taste buds. First up is Kettl Tea - Bowery. I was really excited about this one, especially after hearing so much about their quality. I tried the suiteski iced matcha, and my first impression was how incredibly creamy and rich it was. It felt like a true indulgence. However, I did notice a few clumps, which slightly detracted from the otherwise perfect sip. Despite that, I still rated it a solid 8/10 because the flavor profile was undeniable. The atmosphere at Kettl Tea is another highlight; it's such a cozy, zen, and calm space. Walking in, you immediately feel a sense of tranquility. They also offer matcha chocolates and a curated selection of teas, making me really want to go back for a more immersive curated matcha experience, perhaps exploring their traditional Kettl menu options next time. It’s definitely a spot for serious matcha enthusiasts looking for a refined experience in New York. Next, I ventured to Isshiki Matcha in East Village, and oh my goodness, their strawberry matcha was a game-changer! I gave it a perfect 10/10, and for good reason. The blend achieved a perfect harmony between fruit and earth flavors. It wasn't overly sweet, allowing the natural bitterness of the matcha to complement the fresh strawberry notes beautifully. It was refreshing, vibrant, and honestly, one of the best fruit-infused matchas I've ever had in NYC. If you're in the East Village and looking for something bright and perfectly balanced, Isshiki Matcha is an absolute must-try. Their innovative approach to matcha drinks really stands out. Finally, I stopped by Not As Bitter, a spot known for its unique concoctions. I tried both their pineapple matcha and coconut matcha. The pineapple matcha was surprisingly delightful, earning an 8.7/10. It offered a tropical twist without overpowering the matcha. But the real star for me was the coconut matcha, which I rated 9/10. What made it special was its smooth texture and the subtle, creamy coconut flavor that blended seamlessly with the matcha. It felt incredibly luxurious and was a fantastic alternative to traditional milk-based matchas. For those who love exploring different matcha flavors, Not As Bitter definitely delivers creative and satisfying options right here in the heart of East Village. Overall, the East Village truly offers some of the best matcha experiences in NYC. While I couldn't get to every spot this time, like Setsugekka East Village Matcha, these three stops have given me a fantastic start. Each place offered something distinct, from Kettl's traditional elegance to Isshiki's fruity innovation and Not As Bitter's unique blends. I hope my personal reviews help you navigate the vibrant matcha scene and find your own perfect cup in this amazing neighborhood!
