Benzaiten is enshrined in the red Benten-do Hall floating in the pond,
There is a statue of a white snake nearby.
Kobo Daishi pacified the viper that devastated this land long ago,
Legend has it that a snake changed its mind and became a white snake to serve Benzaiten.
It is said that there is a benefit if you gently stroke the head after worshiping.
The origin of Otani-dera Temple is also due to the achievements of Kobo Daishi.
Quiet the land that was feared as "Jigokudani,"
It is said that Senju Kannon appeared.
That mysterious event is said to have been the origin of the foundation of Otani-dera Temple.
The precincts surrounded by quiet water and rock walls,
It was a place where the afterglow of old tales drifted softly.

「大谷寺のご利益って実際どうなの？」と気になって行ったのですが、いちばん印象に残ったのは池に浮かぶ赤い弁天堂と、そばに寄り添う白へびの像でした。境内は岩壁と静かな水面に囲まれていて、派手さはないのに“整う”感じ。紅葉シーズンは水面に色が映り込んで、写真以上に空気が澄んで見えました。 私が意識した参拝の流れは、①境内の景色を一周して気持ちを落ち着かせる→②弁天堂で弁財天に手を合わせる→③白へび像へ、の順。弁天堂には「開運弁財」といった旗も出ていて、金運・財運、商売運、芸事（音楽や表現）にご縁がある弁財天らしさを感じます。お願いごとは欲張りすぎず、「今やっていることを伸ばしたい」「無駄遣いを減らして貯めたい」みたいに具体的にすると、自分の行動も変わりやすいなと思いました。 白へび像は“参拝後に頭をそっと撫でるとご利益がある”と言われているので、私は手を清潔にしてから、軽く一撫でだけ。強くこすらず、混んでいる時は譲り合うのが気持ちいいです。撫でたあとに「ありがとうございました」と一言添えると、観光というよりちゃんとお参りした感覚になりました。 大谷寺は弘法大師の伝説や、千手観音が現れたという由来も語られていて、金運だけじゃなく“厄を鎮める・心を整える”方向のご利益もイメージしやすい場所でした。日々の不安が続く時期に行くと、境内の静けさがそのままお守りみたいに感じられると思います。 現地で迷わないための実用メモも。拝観時間は季節で変わるので（4〜9月は8:30〜16:30、10〜3月は9:00〜16:30）、到着が遅くなりそうなら先に確認がおすすめ。木曜休業（祝日は営業）も要チェックです。拝観料は大人500円で、無料駐車場もありますが台数は多くないので、紅葉の週末は早めの到着が安心でした。 「大谷寺のご利益」を求めて行くなら、弁天堂の弁財天と白へび像、そして岩壁と水面の静けさまで含めて味わうのがいちばん。お願いごと＋自分の行動のきっかけを持ち帰れる、そんな参拝になりました。
