Earring holder - easy diy project
Sometimes you just need to make something pretty and lace has such a soft, classy look to it. This project only took a few items and was very simple.
*First I gathered up my supplies. I needed a wooden picture frame, some lace, scissors & a staple gun.
*I removed the glass & backing from the picture frame. Then I placed the lace across the back and began stapling, stretching the lace as I went.
*Then I just hung my earrings in the lace. It's very decorative and my earrings are easy to grab in a hurry.
Okay, so you've seen how simple it is to make a basic earring holder with a picture frame and lace, right? But let me tell you, this DIY project can be so much more than just functional – it can be a real statement piece for your room or vanity! I recently upgraded mine, and I wanted to share some extra tips and tricks I learned along the way to make your custom earring display even better. First off, choosing your picture frame is key. Don't just grab any old one! Think about your room's aesthetic. A sleek black frame like a classic choice, but what about a distressed white for a shabby chic look, or even a bold, colorful frame if you're feeling adventurous? You can also find frames with intricate carvings or unique shapes. And don't forget about size! A larger frame means more space for all your beautiful earrings, whether they're delicate studs or gorgeous dangle earrings. I've even seen people use multi-opening frames for different sections! Now, for the 'hanging' part. While lace gives that soft, elegant vibe (I used some lovely pink lace and a friend used white lace for theirs!), you have so many other options. For a more industrial or modern feel, consider using a fine mesh screen or chicken wire. It's super sturdy and gives a different texture. You could also stretch a piece of fabric with a loose weave, like linen or burlap, for a rustic touch. Some people even use cork board and just push their earrings right in! Whatever you choose, make sure it's something your earrings can easily hook onto or poke through without damaging them. When it comes to attaching your chosen material, the staple gun is definitely the easiest way to go. Make sure you have the right staples for your gun and frame material. If you don't have a staple gun, don't worry! You can use strong adhesive glue, small tacks, or even a hot glue gun for lighter materials. Just take your time and ensure everything is stretched taut and secure. You don't want your beautiful DIY earring holder to sag after a few weeks! Beyond the basic construction, think about personalizing it. I painted my frame a vibrant teal after seeing one online, and it totally transformed the whole look. You could add small decorative elements like faux flowers in one corner, tiny hooks on the bottom for necklaces, or even a mini shelf for rings. This isn't just about earring storage anymore; it's about creating a little jewelry display that sparks joy every time you see it. One thing I found super helpful was to plan out where I'd hang different types of earrings. I put my most-worn dangle earrings at eye level and my everyday studs in a dedicated section. It makes grabbing them in a hurry so much easier. And when you're using scissors to cut your material, always cut a little larger than you think you need, you can always trim off the excess later. This simple project truly makes a difference in keeping my jewelry organized and visible. No more rummaging through boxes or tangled messes! Give these extra ideas a try and make your DIY earring holder truly one-of-a-kind!
