Back then, our days were filled with in-person interactions, outdoor play, and a pace that allowed us to develop social skills without digital distractions. There was a sense of privacy and mystery that isn’t as prevalent today, where much of our personal lives are shared online. However, technology has also brought undeniable benefits. Teens today can access vast amounts of information instantly, connect with friends and family worldwide, and find support through online communities. Yet, this constant connectivity sometimes leads to stress, cyberbullying, and a feeling of being overwhelmed by information overload. I’ve noticed that the absence of screens in my youth encouraged creativity and physical activity, fostering stronger problem-solving skills through direct experiences. In contrast, modern teens face unique challenges balancing real and virtual worlds. Ultimately, while technology offers invaluable tools, maintaining a healthy balance is key. Encouraging teens to spend time offline, engage in face-to-face relationships, and enjoy nature remain essential practices to preserve aspects of the cherished childhood many of us remember fondly.
