30 minute evening routine for busy girls ✨

i’m a girly who looooves a 3 hour evening routine - time to soak in the tub, skincare, journal, stretch, read, and relax 😌 but it’s just not always possible!

maybe you get home from work late, you have things to do into the evening, or you have kids. whatever the reason, sometimes you just need to get to bed fast!

but we all know that you can’t just toss yourself on the bed and expect to get a good nights sleep 😅 we need at least a little wind-down

you can always do a little variation of this depending on how much time you have 🫶

💌 save for later!

As someone who often gets home late or has a packed schedule, I completely understand the struggle. We all crave that peaceful wind-down, but a three-hour spa-like ritual just isn't always feasible. That's why I've found so much relief in a streamlined 30-minute approach. It proves that even a short burst of intentional self-care can make a massive difference in your mental state and the quality of your sleep. It's about making peace with what you can do, not stressing over what you can't. My go-to for the first 10 MINUTES TO GET CLEAN is all about shedding the day's grime and worries. Beyond a quick shower, I’ve found a few tricks to elevate this phase into a mini spa moment. Sometimes, I'll do a quick dry brush before hopping in the shower – it feels invigorating and helps circulation. Instead of just a regular soap, I'll use an aromatherapy shower steamer with essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus to turn my bathroom into a calming sanctuary. After my shower, I swap my daytime clothes for the softest pajamas I own, and quickly moisturize with a rich body lotion. It’s a simple act, but it signals to my body that the day is officially over, and relaxation is beginning. This segment is truly one of my favorite self care evening ideas because it's so tangible and instantly refreshing. The next 10 MINUTES TO CLEAR YOUR MIND are crucial for tackling that 'going to bed anxiety' and quieting the mental chatter. For me, this is where 'no screens, just quiet reflection' really shines. I keep a journal right by my bed, and instead of just writing about my day, I focus on a 'brain dump' – getting all my worries, to-dos, and lingering thoughts onto paper. It’s incredibly cathartic. Another powerful practice I’ve adopted is incorporating DAILY AFFIRMATIONS. I'll write down or silently repeat affirmations like 'I am calm,' 'I am at peace,' or 'I release the day’s stress.' This helps reshape my mindset before sleep. If journaling isn't your thing, simply sitting quietly with a cup of herbal tea and listening to some gentle instrumental music can work wonders. The goal is to consciously shift your focus from external stimulation to internal peace, preparing your mind for rest. Finally, the last 10 MINUTES TO RELAX YOUR BODY are dedicated to easing any physical tension. While stretching is fantastic, I also love adding variations. Sometimes, I'll do a few minutes of gentle foam rolling on my back or legs, which is surprisingly effective for releasing knots. Other nights, I'll practice progressive muscle relaxation, tensing and then releasing different muscle groups from my toes all the way up to my head. This is especially helpful when I feel wired. A warm, caffeine-free drink like chamomile or valerian root tea is also a staple for me during this time. For busy teens exploring their own night routine, I suggest trying a short guided meditation focused on body scan relaxation – there are many free apps available. The key is to find what helps your body signal that it’s time to power down and prepare for deep, restorative sleep. Even if I'm super wired, 10 minutes of deep breathing exercises often does the trick to get me 'out like a light.' This entire 30-minute sequence is about being kind to yourself and prioritizing your well-being, even when time is scarce.
