6 ways to release trauma & anxiety 🫶🏼

my healing journey changed completely when i started addressing my body as well as my mind -

the tension from trauma is stored in your body. so even if you’re addressing it mentally, you won’t be able to fully let it go until you move it through your body and process it somatically!

these are the things i’ve done to process and release stored trauma/anxiety, i hope it helps for you too 💗

Movement-based therapies are increasingly recognized for their effectiveness in trauma release. 1. **Intuitive Dance**: Allow your body to express emotions freely through intuitive or freeform dance. This form of movement is about connecting with your feelings rather than performing. It enables energy stagnation to flow out, providing a safe space to process emotions. 2. **Joyful Movement**: Engage in activities that are enjoyable, such as calisthenics or other fun workouts. Finding joy in movement is essential for releasing tension and promoting emotional well-being. 3. **Mindful Walking**: Grounding yourself through a mindful walk, especially in nature, can be effective. Take notice of each step, focusing on the sensation of the ground underfoot. Experimenting with barefoot walking on grass or sand can further enhance this grounding effect. 4. **Yoga and Somatic Stretching**: Incorporate deep breathing while practicing yoga poses. Pay attention to areas of tension, and breathe into those spaces. Specific poses like Child’s Pose and Pigeon Pose are particularly beneficial for addressing trauma. 5. **Strength-Based Movement**: Channel pent-up emotions like anger through strength-based activities such as kickboxing, sprinting, or weightlifting. These movements help alleviate the fight or flight response ingrained in the body, allowing for a healthy release of emotions. 6. **Breathwork with Movement**: Combine conscious breathing with physical movement. For instance, synchronize your deep breathing with arm movements to enhance the release of stored tension. Inhaling while raising your arms and exhaling while lowering them can create a calming rhythm. Integrating these practices into your daily routine can significantly impact your journey toward healing and emotional balance.

Myofacial (I don’t think I spelled that right) is also really good for past trauma release. Sometimes it will be trauma you didn’t know you had. Just be prepared to have tons of emotions and someone to talk to afterwards.
