for years i thought being “regulated” meant always being calm, unbothered, or emotionally in control. but over time, i learned how easy it is to confuse suppression w/ regulation —
but having a regulated nervous system isn’t about being calm all the time! it’s about being able to return to a baseline of safety after stress.
once i stopped chasing emotional perfection, i was able to start giving my nervous system what it actually needed: safety, support, and softness.
if you’re feeling “too much” right now, please know that you’re not broken 🫂 your nervous system is just learning to feel safe again
