32nd book: Not My Job Anymore

My first ARC review is officially complete! ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not My Job Anymore was a funny, relatable, and heartfelt read about what happens when the life you’ve built no longer feels like the life you want.

The sarcasm and inner thoughts of the main character had me laughing because honestly… we’ve all had some of those thoughts. 😂 Beneath the humor is a story about self-discovery, growth, grief, and finding the courage to choose yourself.

My only drawback was that the ending felt a little rushed. After becoming invested in the character’s journey, I wanted more time with the resolution.

Overall, this was an enjoyable women’s fiction read that reminds us it’s never too late to start a new chapter.

... Read moreReading "Not My Job Anymore" really resonated with me on a personal level, especially the way it captures the mix of humor and pain when life no longer fits the path we thought we'd follow. The main character's sarcastic inner voice reminded me of moments when I questioned my own choices and felt stuck in routines that didn’t feel fulfilling anymore. One part of the book that stood out was the vivid emotion around grief and the courage it takes to embrace change. It felt authentic, as if the author tapped into real feelings many of us face but rarely articulate. I could almost feel the main character’s struggle to both let go of the past and find the enthusiasm to paint her future – literally and figuratively, with the mural mentioned. The pacing toward the end seemed a bit rushed to me too, which left me wanting a little more closure or time to breathe with the character’s growth. However, this didn’t detract too much from the overall message: it’s never too late to rewrite your story and prioritize what truly matters. The OCR text hints at some poignant passages like the memory of Michael’s kisses and the freedom the protagonist seeks—little details that deepen the emotional landscape. As someone who’s gone through periods of self-doubt and change, this novel felt like a gentle reminder that growth is messy but worth it. For readers who enjoy stories about personal transformation, women's fiction, and the power of humor amidst trials, "Not My Job Anymore" offers a compelling blend of relatability and inspiration. It’s a perfect pick for those who believe in fresh starts and finding strength in vulnerability.
