Please Vote For My Sister
I've rarely used this app but I figured I'd post here.
My sister is going to be in Friday's pageant this year at our local Laos New Year event this April 3-5. If you are in the Louisiana area and wish to attend, I kindly ask for your support to vote for her in the pageant. She is Contestant No.3
Remember that this is a Buddhist Temple ground and property so I ask that you please be respectful and mindful of others when visiting.
The event hosts various activities and things to do as, we have a water festival, pageant, parade, karaoke, etc. We also have various vendors selling food, drinks, alcohol, toys, clothing, etc.
Please feel free to attend and if you do have fun and enjoy yourself.
Having attended the Laos New Year event at Wat Thammarattanaram in previous years, I can wholeheartedly recommend it as a rich cultural experience blending tradition, community, and fun. The setting on Buddhist temple grounds provides a peaceful atmosphere where respect for the culture is deeply felt throughout the celebrations. Each day features unique activities—from the traditional Thak Baht offering ceremony to lively water festival fun and the much-anticipated Nang Songkarn pageant, where contestants like Contestant No.3 showcase their talents and grace. The parade is a highlight for families, with colorful costumes and joyful music creating an engaging spectacle. Vendors offer a wide variety of authentic food, snacks, and beverages, including popular items like boba tea that are perfect for mingling and socializing. This event not only honors the Lao New Year traditions but also creates an inclusive space to meet locals and visitors alike. If you’re in the Louisiana region during this time, attending is a wonderful way to support the local Lao community and celebrate diversity. Remember to vote for your favorite contestant during the pageant; your participation helps promote cultural pride and individual achievements. Additionally, the emphasis on mindfulness and respect for the temple grounds ensures a welcoming and harmonious environment for all guests. Overall, this event is more than a festival—it’s a heartfelt celebration of heritage, family, and new beginnings. Don’t miss out on the chance to witness beautiful rituals, enjoy lively entertainment, and support contestants like my sister in the 2026 Laos New Year Pageant.
