Pray for Oxford MS😭

After day 4, power has slowly started to come back on for some areas—but many people here are still without electricity, heat, food, or clean water.

As of now, the death toll is 18 lives lost, and that number represents real families, neighbors, and stories that didn’t make it through this storm.

Oxford has never seen conditions like this. Roads iced over, businesses shut down, homes freezing, and people doing the best they can with what they have. Some are sleeping in their cars. Some are sharing generators. Some are still waiting for help.

If you have power, water, food, or warmth—please check on someone who might not. If you’re able to help in any way, even small acts matter right now.

Please keep Oxford, MS in your prayers. We’re hurting, but we’re still standing together. 🤍

... Read moreLiving through an ice storm like the one that hit Oxford, MS, has been an eye-opening experience about the strength and resilience of a community. From personal observation, the frozen roads, especially areas like Old Taylor Rd and around metered parking zones, became nearly impassable, forcing many to stay indoors or find alternative shelter. Businesses, including beloved local spots such as Cortune's Famous Ice Cream and Square Books, had to shut down, impacting both owners and patrons alike. The weight of the storm's impact extends beyond just inconvenience—without electricity, many homes were left without heat or clean water, making everyday survival a challenge. I saw neighbors sharing resources—generators, food, and warmth—which brought a sense of solidarity amidst the hardship. One striking aspect was the immense importance of checking in on others. Small acts like offering a warm meal or helping clear icy sidewalks can drastically improve someone's day and safety. Moreover, staying informed about road closures and detours, such as those around Hemline 1104 Metgred Parking, was crucial for planning essential trips. This storm has reminded me how vital community support and compassion are in times of crisis. As Oxford slowly recovers, I encourage everyone who still has power and supplies to reach out and assist those who are struggling. Together, through kindness and unity, Oxford will rebuild and heal from this unprecedented ice storm.
