Frieren review

Been wanting to do this review for quite a while. Listed as one of the best anime in recent years, I decided to check it out. I can understand why it deserved so many praises.
First of all, the storytelling is excellent. Even though the journey has ended for Frieren’s party, each character in her party has its own character development, making u feel connected to their backstories & motivations. The side characters are great as well, allowing Frieren to discover emotions or feelings & reflect on her journey.
Pacing is slow at times, which can be an issue, but in this case, it feels like u r going on the journey with these characters. The action is also impressive, even though this is not an action packed anime. If u r into that kind of genre, this might not be your cup of tea. At the start, I thought the tone was gonna be serious, but it is actually light hearted & the humour is good too.
The only nitpick I sort of have is that season 2 feels short, with 10 eps. I just hope that we get to see more of the journey. Nevertheless, I think this is a series u should not miss out. Looking forward to the next season!
Watching Frieren: Beyond Journey's End truly felt like embarking on an emotional and introspective journey alongside the characters. What stood out most to me was how the series uniquely showcases the discovery of human connections, something especially profound given Frieren’s long-lived perspective as an immortal elf. The slow pacing allowed time for moments of reflection and character growth, which deepened my appreciation for each member of the party beyond just surface-level heroics. The side characters enriched the narrative, providing a fuller sense of Frieren’s world and her evolving understanding of emotions she'd previously been detached from. This emotional exploration gave the story a warmth that distinguishes it from typical fantasy anime. I also found the blend of light-hearted humor and serious themes created a balanced tone that kept me engaged without feeling pressured by constant high-stakes drama. Although the action scenes were few and more subtle compared to conventional action-packed anime, they were impactful and meaningful, reinforcing the story's focus on relationships rather than battles. I do feel season 2’s 10 episodes ended too soon, leaving me eager for more insights and adventures. Overall, Frieren’s portrayal of reflection, loss, and connection makes it one of the most touching anime experiences I've encountered recently, and I highly recommend it to viewers seeking a thoughtful fantasy series that goes beyond escapism.
