Marshmallow Root

Did you know that if you want the digestive or respiratory benefits of marshmallow root a cold infusion is the way to go? most of marshmallow roots benefits come from mucilage, a slimy sticky substance that soothes and coats irritated mucus membranes. Mucilage is destroyed with heat, so the best way to consume marshmallow fpr the mucilage would be pouring cold or room temperature water over your herb and letting it steep 8-12 hours.

I wish I had known this sooner! if you suffer with gut issues, an irritated stomach, please look into marshmallow root! you'd be amazed at what one cup of a tea a day can do!

... Read moreFrom personal experience and research, I can confidently say that preparing marshmallow root as a cold infusion unlocks its true healing properties. The mucilage, a slippery substance that coats and soothes irritated mucous membranes in the digestive and respiratory tracts, is fragile and breaks down when exposed to heat, which is why traditional hot teas might not deliver the full benefit. To make a proper cold infusion, I usually pour cold or room temperature water over dried marshmallow root and let it steep in the fridge or a cool place for 8 to 12 hours. This method preserves mucilage, making the tea both soothing and effective. After trying this for a few weeks, I noticed a significant reduction in stomach irritation and a gentler effect on throat discomfort during cold seasons. An important tip I learned is to avoid boiling or steeping the root in hot water, as this destroys the mucilage and minimizes the therapeutic effects. Instead, the slow extraction at low temperatures protects these precious compounds. Marshmallow root has historically been used in holistic health for soothing coughs, healing ulcers, and calming inflammation. People with sensitive digestion, acid reflux, or bronchial irritation may find this natural remedy especially beneficial. Adding a small amount of honey can enhance the taste and add its own antimicrobial benefits. Overall, committing to one cup of cold infusion marshmallow root tea daily can be a gentle yet powerful addition to your natural remedies toolkit. Always ensure you source high-quality organic herbs and consult with a healthcare professional if you have underlying conditions or are pregnant. This simple preparation technique makes marshmallow root a truly valuable ally for gut and respiratory wellness.

I've been a Herbalist for 51 years...the mistake most people do is assume herbs are less potent...and they don't test them sometimes to their demise. I'm going to share how to test herbs BEFORE YOU SMEAR IT ON OR TAKE them... take the herbs or plant rub it on the inside of the elbow and wrist..wait one hour..if its a red reaction or bumps.. DONT TAKE THE HERB! Or..you take the herb(s) or plant hold them against your heart..have someone else with you..you stick your arm and hold it up...while they press down.. if its good for you you can keep your arm up if its bad for you you can't. (circumstances come in here...say your a weakling and your hubby is strong..you know your own body. you can feel when somethings bad for you...you cant keep your arm up! Sounds weird...works. Blessings to all.
