Vulnerability 🤍
Here’s a bit of vulnerability as I don’t usually share my poems.
Title: Looper ♾️
I wonder where I am
Where I am going
And it hits
The tune of life, gets silenced
As I am running
Away from it all
I can barely breathe
To the coast, to feel again
As I jump in
the pressure is low
I regain my breathe
As I’m floating away
There’s a drift but it’s secure
Very loud, yet so peaceful
As the water crashes on to the rocks
It’s like I can hear the others
Calling my name
To come deeper
Because it feels so good
To the rhythm of flow
I sway back and fourth
Next, I awake
And I’m in my bed
To a knock on the door
I realize,
Another day, gone away
Reading 'Looper,' I often reflect on those moments when life feels like a cycle, where you're running away only to find yourself back where you started, or at least, feeling that familiar sense of unease. My poem touches on seeking a temporary escape, a moment of breath by the 'coast,' feeling both loud and peaceful. But beyond that momentary drift, what does it truly mean to embrace vulnerability in our daily lives, especially when we wake up and it's 'another day, gone away'? For me, embracing vulnerability isn't about wallowing in weakness; it's about acknowledging my feelings, even the uncomfortable ones, and allowing them to be. It’s about saying, 'Yes, I feel lost right now,' or 'This situation scares me,' instead of pretending everything is fine. There’s a quiet strength in simply admitting where you are. I used to think being vulnerable meant opening myself up to hurt, and sometimes it does, but it also opens the door to genuine connection and self-acceptance. It’s a challenging yet incredibly rewarding journey, much like diving into unknown waters – initially daunting, but ultimately freeing. One thing I've learned is that it starts small. Maybe it’s sharing a thought you’d usually keep hidden, or admitting you don’t have all the answers. Just like in 'Looper' where I describe the feeling of floating away, it's a slow release, a gentle process. It’s not about grand gestures but about daily choices to be a little more open with myself and with trusted friends. The phrase "Embrace Vulnerability," which often appears on my content, is a constant reminder for me to live this philosophy. It's a commitment to showing up authentically, even when it feels scary. I've found that even small acts, like expressing a worry to a friend or simply acknowledging an insecure thought to myself, can chip away at the heavy burden of trying to be perfect. When you embrace vulnerability, you create space for growth. It’s like the poem's 'drift but it’s secure' – there’s movement, perhaps uncertainty, but also a sense of safety that comes from being true to yourself. It allows others to see the real you, fostering deeper relationships. And importantly, it allows you to truly see yourself, not just the curated version you present to the world. It’s a powerful path to finding genuine peace, not just a fleeting escape, but a sustainable inner calm. Taking concrete steps like journaling your feelings, practicing honest communication, or even just allowing yourself to cry when you need to, can be incredibly liberating. It’s about peeling back the layers and discovering the resilience that lies beneath. So, next time you feel that 'looper' feeling, consider what small step you can take to embrace that vulnerable moment. It might just lead you to a deeper sense of self and connection.
