Quick & Easy Way to Clean Rugs Without a Washer 🧺
Washing rugs can be such a hassle - worrying if it’ll fit in your washing machine, having to move furniture, waiting forever for it to dry. Lately I’ve been doing a simple and easy method to clean my rugs between deeper washes. This way doesn’t involve moving any furniture, using a hose, or a washing machine. And it really helps them stay clean and smell nice for weeks. Here’s how I do it:
-Sprinkle baking soda over rug, and let it sit 15-30 minutes (or longer if it’s pretty dirty
-Vacuum the rug as normal, making sure all the baking soda is lifted.
-Lightly spray with a vinegar and water mixture - this cleans and deodorizes the rug. It should be slightly damp, but not wet. You could also use a multipurpose cleaner - just make sure it’s fabric safe and spot test first
-For stains, use a damp cloth with dish soap and rub it into the stain until it’s gone.
-Then open a nearby window, and position a fan near the rug to help it dry.
That’s all it takes! It’s much less time consuming than using a washer, or hosing it down outside. I like to do this about once a month, or when my rugs are particularly dirty, to keep them fresh 💛
