Especially with all the buzz around Borderlands 4, getting your hands on some iconic gear is a must. That's why I decided to tackle printing my very own Ripper Mask! The Ripper Mask is just so iconic and menacing, perfect for adding that extra punch to any Borderlands collection or cosplay. I found an amazing 3D model for the Ripper Mask over on Printables – seriously, if you're into 3D printing, it's a treasure trove! It's incredible to see community creations that bring the game world to life. When it came to filament, I wanted something special. I opted for Quantum Dot Filament from @protopasta, and let me tell you, the results were stunning straight off the printer! It gave the mask this incredible, almost in-game glow, even before any post-processing. If you're looking to print your own Borderlands 4 Ripper Mask, don't skimp on the filament quality. A good base print saves so much post-processing time. I usually use a standard PLA for initial tests, but for the final piece, investing in something unique like this 'Quantum Dot' really pays off in terms of visual impact and durability. Even with a fantastic print, the real magic happens during post-processing. Since this is a paintable Ripper Mask, I knew I had a canvas to work with. First, a bit of sanding to smooth out any layer lines – patience is key here! Then, a good primer to ensure the paint adheres well. For that signature Borderlands cell-shaded look, I went with a combination of base coats and then carefully added black outlines. Weathering effects using dry brushing and washes really make it look like it's been through some bandit skirmishes. It's amazing how a few layers of paint can transform a plain print into something straight out of Pandora. Thinking of printing your own Borderlands 4 Ripper Mask? Here are a few things I learned along the way that might help you on your own project: Scale is everything: Double-check the dimensions against your head (or whoever will wear it) before printing. A scaled-down mask is no fun! Supports: The Ripper Mask has some tricky overhangs. Don't be afraid to use plenty of supports, but make sure they're easy to remove. Tree supports often work well for complex shapes like this. Ventilation: Especially if you're painting, make sure you're in a well-ventilated area. Those fumes can be strong! Patience: Good things take time, whether it's the print itself or the detailed painting. Don't rush it! Seeing my finished Borderlands 4 Ripper Mask proudly displayed (or ready for my next cosplay event!) is incredibly rewarding. It's more than just a prop; it's a piece of the Borderlands universe I brought to life with my own hands. Happy printing, Vault Hunters!
