Trying to make $ as a content creator?
I have done my own due diligence including attempting collaborations with the brands I name below 👇🏼 Coming in at #1 …
1. TEMU - There are many reasons why I recommend to avoid collaborating with this company / brand. Firstly the lawsuits against them for stealing all of the information on your phone once you download their app. If that’s not reason enough before this came out I worked with them. A set $ amount for an advertisement in one of my livestream videos. I did the work they tried to avoid paying me and I had to message every department for months and they didn’t honour my late fees or compensate me for the many hours I spent contacting them. Thirdly their affiliate program doesn’t work, I tried it for myself and when people signed up they didn’t pay me for that either. I see them running a lot of ads these days probably too cover up their shady activities. I get it they offer great deals but you can also get the same deals elsewhere like Shein or Amazon.
NYX… ugh this is a hard one for me to include because I honestly love their products! I did a UGC collaboration with usage rights through NYX’s influencer marketing agency. It seems like they have outsourced this to a secondary agency so my issue lies more with that agency than with NYX themselves. They offered me a good amount of $ for the collab but they said they had to do a net 60 contract and that’s the only way it could work. A net 60 means they wouldn’t pay me for up to 2 months after the content was posted which can be difficult if you have bills to pay. They didn’t honour the contract, didn’t pay me on time I had to chase them and when they did pay they didn’t honour the payment method listed I the contract so I accrued extra fees on my end. Not a great experience as a creator working with them.
AH! I ran out of space comment for part 2 ❤️

As a content creator, choosing the right brands to collaborate with is crucial for your success and reputation. It’s not just about the money; it’s about establishing partnerships that are both beneficial and respectful. Several creators have reported negative experiences with brands that may seem appealing due to their popularity or attractive offers. For instance, it’s essential to research brands like TEMU, which has faced lawsuits and issues regarding user data privacy. Collaborators have shared instances of not receiving payments or struggling with affiliate programs that promised more than they delivered. Similarly, brands like NYX have been criticized not for their products but for their payment practices through their agencies. A net 60 payment terms may not fit everyone’s financial needs, and many creators have found themselves chasing after the compensation they were promised. When considering collaborations, always review a brand’s history with influencers and read testimonials from other content creators. Joining forums and communities where experiences can be shared will equip you with valuable insights and help you navigate this lucrative yet tricky landscape. Remember, your brand as a creator is your most valuable asset; protect it by being discerning about who you partner with.
