My bird loves strangers 🤣
Do you have a pet that's like this? Let me know in the comments. I just think that it's so funny how some birds are extra cautious of new people and then my Sun Conure parrot will sit with you instantly when he meets you haha.
Have you met a friendly bird like this before? You should follow my bird TikTok page for more content like this and educational tidbits about birds @ Brea's_birds I am on a mission to raise exotic birds and spread the love of owning birds in North America.

You know, a lot of people ask me, 'Are Sun Conures really as friendly as they look?' My answer is always a resounding YES! My own little feathered friend is living proof. It's truly amazing how social and outgoing these birds can be. I often hear about parrots being shy or wary of new faces, but my Sun Conure is the exact opposite. I've had experiences where he'll instantly hop onto a stranger's shoulder, curious and ready for attention. It's not just a fluke, it's their natural temperament. They thrive on interaction and love being part of the family action. One of the funniest moments was when our exterminator came over. I was a bit nervous about how my bird would react, but instead of being scared, he was fascinated! He actually perched on the exterminator's arm and, no kidding, started gently 'trimming' his cuticles. It was hilarious and just goes to show how comfortable and cheeky they can be even with people they've never met. This kind of interaction, where my 'Sunny Bird gives our exterminator a cuticle trim,' really highlights their affectionate and playful side. If you're wondering if Sun Conures make good pets, based on my experience, they absolutely do – with a few caveats! They are incredibly intelligent, playful, and yes, very cuddly. My bird loves to snuggle into my neck or perch on my head while I'm working. This strong bonding ability is why many owners fall head over heels for them. They're not just pets; they become a true companion. However, potential owners should know they are also quite vocal and need a lot of attention and mental stimulation. They're definitely not a 'set it and forget it' type of pet. For those curious about their species, yes, a Sun Conure is indeed a type of parrot, known for its vibrant plumage and lively personality. They're part of the Aratinga genus, which includes many popular companion birds. When it comes to finding one, I always recommend looking for reputable breeders or rescue organizations. Ethical sourcing ensures you get a healthy bird and supports responsible pet ownership. It's crucial to find a place where the birds are well-socialized from a young age. Bonding with a Sun Conure is a gradual, rewarding process. It involves patience, positive reinforcement, and spending quality time together. Offering treats, talking to them gently, and letting them explore safely around you are all great ways to build trust. My bird knows my voice and even recognizes certain phrases, which is just incredible. They truly become part of your life in a unique way, bringing so much joy and laughter with their friendly antics and cuddly nature.
