JB WoodFire what to order?

I finally tried Woodfire after hearing so much hype, and here’s my 100% honest #BeReal review. Not everything here is a must-order, so let me break it down for you:

❌ What I Would Skip

Mushroom Burger

As someone who loves mushrooms, this was the biggest disappointment. The mushrooms had a bitter taste and an overpowering smell that made the burger unpleasant. I ended up removing them entirely. Maybe it was just a bad batch, but I won’t be ordering this again.

Regular Fries

Plain, not crispy, and honestly bland. Even the cheese fries didn’t impress me. If you’re thinking of getting fries, skip the regular ones.

🔥 What’s Worth Ordering

Brisket Burger

This is what Woodfire is famous for, and it didn’t disappoint. The brisket is juicy, tender, and literally melts in your mouth. It’s messy (thankfully they give you gloves), but for the price point, it’s so worth it.

Coney Fries

If you’re craving fries, this is the one to get. Flavourful, saucy, and a huge step up from the plain and cheese versions. Just note that their fries are generally not hot and crispy its more of the soggy kind.

Milkshakes (Must-Try)

Easily one of the highlights. They’re creamy but not too heavy, so you can actually finish one without feeling overly jelak.

Oreo and Biscoff are my favourites (note: Biscoff is the sweetest 🍯) but Vanilla is the safest pick if you don’t like very sweet things.

p.s I've been to woodfire twice and both times I had to queue like 30-45min for it so please do factor in some time when you visit. I do feel a 30minute wait is reasonable but I would not queue more than an hour for this as there are many other places in jb you can eat for good and cheap as well !

... Read moreIf you’re planning a visit to WoodFire in Johor Bahru, here are a few tips from my personal experience to make your meal more enjoyable. Firstly, be prepared for a wait as the popularity of WoodFire means queues can stretch between 30 to 45 minutes, especially during peak hours. Going during off-peak times might help reduce waiting times. While the brisket burger is undoubtedly the star dish, don’t expect traditional crispy fries. Their fries tend to be on the soggy side, so opting for the coney fries is a better choice as they come loaded with tasty sauce that adds a burst of flavor. The milkshakes are perfect to balance out the meal—creamy but light enough to finish without feeling too heavy. My top picks are Oreo and Biscoff, with the latter being quite sweet, so if you prefer milder sweetness, vanilla is your safest bet. It’s also worth noting that the mushroom burger, despite loving mushrooms myself, was a letdown due to its bitter taste and strong aroma. Similarly, the regular fries lacked seasoning and crispiness, so I’d advise skipping these. Keep in mind that WoodFire offers a halal-friendly menu, which is great for those seeking halal options in JB. Lastly, if you want to explore other local burger spots in Johor Bahru, there are several affordable alternatives to consider that also serve up delicious food without the lengthy wait. Overall, WoodFire delivers a gourmet burger experience worth trying once, especially if you’re chasing hearty brisket burgers and indulgent shakes. Just manage your expectations on wait time and sides to get the most out of your visit.
