When your soul is also tired Of the calls

I'm counting down 50 days until I quit. While the days count down I am applying to every remote opportunity I come across. Social media, Marketing, Coordinating, you name it! I’ll apply to anything not nailed down 😭

I graduated college at one of the worst times, couldn't find a career in my field plus all my offers withdrew. I had to go into IT cause that's the only thing that was left 😭 Now I'm stuck at my third call center and they are so predatory! They won’t even let me use the restroom!!

Here's what I'm doing to get out:

Applying for 10-15 positions a week in Marketing, Social Media, even English teaching positions!

Making a portfolio of my work instead of just sending in my resume (hoping to trick the ATS systems and get a real human 👀)

Trying to remain as positive as possible... although I am burning through my sick time at work to get out of there 💀

How are you doing out there in this market?

... Read moreWorking in call centers can feel incredibly overwhelming, especially when the environment is as demanding and unsupportive as described here. The experience of being denied basic needs like restroom breaks highlights just how predatory some workplaces can be, which sadly is not uncommon. From firsthand experience, I know how soul-crushing those long hours and constant calls can become, especially when you feel stuck without viable alternatives. One effective strategy I found was diversifying job applications, much like the writer who applies to 10-15 positions weekly across marketing, remote social media roles, and even teaching. This approach broadens opportunities and increases the chances of landing a remote job that offers flexibility and better work-life balance. Creating an online portfolio showcasing your skills can significantly boost your visibility to recruiters and bypass the automated ATS filters that often reject resumes without human eyes ever seeing them. Remaining positive while feeling burnt out is easier said than done; however, focusing on small achievements—like submitting applications or finishing a project for your portfolio—can help maintain motivation. Taking sick days when mentally overwhelmed is important for self-care, but pairing that with active job hunting prevents stagnation. If you’re feeling the weight of a call center job or any high-pressure role, remember that many have walked this path and successfully transitioned to healthier careers. Networking on platforms like LinkedIn, joining remote work forums, and engaging with communities sharing experiences under hashtags like #remoteworking can provide support and valuable insights. Keep pushing forward, and don’t underestimate the power of persistence combined with strategic application efforts—the right opportunity is out there.
