When I first left polytechnic, I wasn’t confident about my academic performance and feared I wouldn’t get into a prestigious university. However, those three gap years became a crucial period of reflection and growth. I explored different jobs and interests, which ultimately helped me realize that nursing was my true calling. The path wasn’t easy. I faced two years of rejections from various universities, which tested my patience and motivation. But persistence played a vital role. I constantly reminded myself that success isn’t always linear, and sometimes what feels like a setback is actually setting the stage for greater opportunities. Getting into the National University of Singapore’s nursing program was a dream come true. NUS is highly competitive, and despite falling below the initial entry points, my journey proved that non-traditional routes can still lead to top institutions if you stay committed. For anyone else who might feel lost or behind academically, remember that taking time to discover your passion is never wasted time. Sometimes, life’s detours help you find the path that truly aligns with your purpose. I’m excited to continue sharing my university life and experiences with all of you, hoping to inspire others to trust their unique journeys.

turkish food is so underrated
