Slowing down for a minute
Today was day one of our trip back home to Oregon, we stoped at the beautiful Monastery Beach to stretch our legs and watch the sunset. It was such a beautiful stop along the way I would highly recommend it especially if you are planning on stoping at Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. It is right before the turn in and open after the reserve closes so you can spend time exploring and then head to the quiet beach as long at you want!!! #lemon8challenge #summerdiary #oceanvibes #beachyvibes #pch
Walking along the Pacific Coast Highway, it's easy to get caught up in the drive, but sometimes the most memorable moments happen when you decide to just… slow down. That’s exactly what happened on my recent trip back to Oregon when we stumbled upon Monastery Beach. Let me tell you, if you're looking for a truly peaceful and beautiful stop, this is it. What makes Monastery Beach so special, especially when you're searching for a gem like this? For starters, it's incredibly serene. Unlike some of the more bustling California beaches, Monastery Beach offers a quiet escape. The expansive sandy beach stretches out, inviting you for a long, reflective walk. I loved feeling the cool sand between my toes as the ocean waves gently kissed the shore. It’s the kind of place where you can truly breathe and let the beauty of nature wash over you. Now, if you're like me and love a good sunset, Monastery Beach is an absolute must. The way the sun dips below the horizon here is just magical, painting the sky with incredible hues that reflect off the water. It’s a photographer's dream – you can capture the stunning natural beauty, from the distant rocky headland to the clear blue sky overhead. I even spotted a small bird scampering along the water's edge, adding to the picturesque scene. One of the best tips I can share, especially if you're planning a visit to the nearby Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, is to make Monastery Beach your post-reserve unwind spot. Point Lobos can get quite busy, and while it's undeniably gorgeous, Monastery Beach offers a different kind of tranquility. It's conveniently located right before the turn into Point Lobos and, crucially, it stays open after the reserve closes. This means you can spend your day exploring the trails and coves of Point Lobos, and then head over to the quiet beach to catch the sunset without the crowds. It's the perfect way to extend your day and soak in those beachy vibes for as long as you want. Beyond the sunset, it’s a fantastic spot for simply unwinding. Pack a small picnic, a cozy blanket, and just sit and listen to the rhythmic sounds of the waves. The backdrop of trees lining the coast adds to its secluded charm, making it feel like your own private paradise. Whether you're passing through on a PCH adventure, or looking for a tranquil spot near Carmel, Monastery Beach is truly a hidden gem that deserves more attention. It’s a place that reminds you to pause, appreciate the moment, and enjoy the simple, stunning beauty of the California coast.
