Exploring the area 🐊
We didn’t waste anytime exploring our new area! The day we moved it was pouring, so instead of unloading the uhaul we went to eat at McGuire's Irish Pub. They have one of the best bread/butter!!! I ordered the fish & chips and the 18¢ bean soup, and my fiancé ordered me an Irish Wake and it came in a really cute jar that you get to keep! If you’ve never been to or heard of McGuire’s I think they are definitely worth checking out. The food is very affordable, and they are known for having dollar bills stapled allll around the restaurant.

I booked us painting with a twist before we even moved to Florida as a way for us to get out of the house since we didn’t know anyone yet. This was our first painting with a twist and we had a lot of fun(:
When we moved to Florida we knew we wanted to adopt cats, so we went to the Coastal Cat Cafe, a cafe where you can spend time with adoptable cats! We put in a a few applications, but we ultimately ended up adopting through a nonprofit organization.
We also explored the downtown area, but I didn’t get any pictures because my phone was really tight on storage😅😅
When we first explored our new Florida surroundings, McGuire's Irish Pub was an absolute must-visit, especially after hearing whispers about their legendary Irish Wake. I'm so glad my fiancé ordered one for me, because it turned into one of the most memorable parts of our first day! The Irish Wake isn't just any drink; it's an experience in itself. It came in this adorable, sturdy glass jar – not just a regular glass, but a charming keepsake that you actually get to take home! This detail alone makes it feel like you're getting more than just a drink; you're getting a little piece of McGuire's to remember your visit by. As for the drink itself, it was perfectly refreshing and had that distinct Irish pub charm. It wasn't overly sweet, just a well-balanced, delightful concoction that truly hit the spot after a long day of moving. The jar itself now sits proudly on our shelf, a fun memento of our initial adventures in Florida. Beyond the amazing Irish Wake, the atmosphere at McGuire's truly amplified the whole experience. Walking in, you're immediately struck by the sheer volume of dollar bills stapled to nearly every surface – it's a sight to behold and adds so much character to the place. It's lively, bustling, and just feels like an authentic Irish pub. We paired our drinks with some of their famous and incredibly affordable food. I couldn't resist the 18¢ bean soup, which was surprisingly hearty and delicious, and of course, the classic fish & chips. The menu, as I later saw, truly offers a great range of pub favorites, visible right as you step in. Everything was fresh and perfectly complemented the robust flavors of the Irish Wake. For anyone visiting the area or like us, just settling in, I honestly can't recommend trying the Irish Wake at McGuire's Irish Pub enough. It’s more than just a cocktail; it’s part of the iconic McGuire’s tradition. Make sure you savor the drink and enjoy keeping the jar as a souvenir. It’s a fantastic way to dive into the local scene and create some fun memories, whether you're relaxing after a busy day or just looking for a unique night out. It certainly set a great tone for our new chapter here in Florida, showing us that even the simplest outings can be filled with delightful discoveries and unique treasures like that keepsake jar!
