Florida girl in an NYC world

Last year six months after turning 40, I took a leap of faith and moved 1300 miles away from everything and everyone I’ve known and loved. A year ago today my plane landed at #LGA . My Uber dropped me off to my new apartment with two suitcases like Coming to America 😂. This last year in New York has been an adventure. I’ve learned so many things about myself. #NewYorkTransplant

Moving from Florida to New York City is not just a geographical change; it's a transformative journey. Many people consider relocating without understanding the cultural shift involved. New York is a melting pot of cultures, offering unique experiences and challenges. From finding a new favorite coffee shop in the bustling streets of Manhattan to navigating the subway system, every day brings new lessons and adventures. As a newcomer, immersing yourself in local traditions and activities can be enriching. Exploring neighborhoods like Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Queens reveals the city’s diverse communities. Participants in various cultural events often find themselves more connected and less isolated. Being a Florida girl in the NYC world can present weather surprises, from unpredictable snowstorms to the vibrant, yet demanding, city life. Learning to adapt to these elements while finding your way around the iconic skyline is part of the adventure. Ultimately, this year has been about self-discovery and growth, as I’ve learned more than I ever anticipated about resilience, making new friends, and embracing change as a New York transplant.
