Iceland Golden Circle!

The Golden Circle is one of the most popular sightseeing routes in Iceland because it covers some of the country’s most iconic natural wonders all within a day trip from Reykjavik. Beyond what I mentioned, it’s also fascinating to visit the geothermal area of Geysir, where you can witness Strokkur erupt every few minutes, shooting boiling water high into the air. When planning your Golden Circle itinerary, consider starting early in the morning to avoid crowds and have more peaceful moments with nature. Many tours also include stops at lesser-known spots, such as the agricultural countryside or the historic church at Skalholt, which adds rich cultural context to your trip. For the adventure seekers, the fissures at Pingvellir National Park provide a rare opportunity to walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates—a geological phenomenon found nowhere else on earth above ground. I put together a waterproof outfit featuring Amazon headband and leggings, a cozy Abercrombie sweater, a North Face jacket and bag, and rugged Danner boots, which kept me comfortable and dry throughout the tour. Taking good gear allows you to fully enjoy the stunning waterfalls, fissures, and geysers without worrying about the elements.
