Walking for Cancer: A City Comes Together

It happens a few times a year in Orlando—a city you wouldn’t expect to rally so hard, yet it does. Yesterday’s walk was one of those moments where everything aligned: energy, emotion, and community. The turnout was incredible. Free giveaways, laughter, tears, and stories filled the air. People walked for someone they loved. Survivors showed up, too—living proof of resilience.

I have my own story. Most of us do.

Cancer receives billions in research funding, more than almost any other cause. And yet, we’re still searching for a cure. In the meantime, treatments like chemotherapy—meant to heal—often leave people weakened for life. It’s a hard truth wrapped in hope.

But yesterday reminded me: even in the struggle, there’s joy. There’s connection. There’s purpose.
