morning in my life ~marathon training~

here’s a quick glimpse into a morning in my life as a girl training for her 3rd marathon! 👟🏃‍♀️‍➡️🎀🤍

•wake up in the morning, get ready, leave the house & drive to the gym🐣🌄

•stretch for about 10 minutes & hop on the treadmill 🧘‍♀️👟

•finish my run for the day that was on my runna training plan🏃‍♀️‍➡️

•drive home, get ready, and go to work👩🏼‍💻

... Read moreWaking up before the sun to train for a marathon isn't always easy, but it has become a cherished part of my routine as I prep for my third marathon! I've learned that consistency is key, and an early morning run sets the tone for my entire day. For me, it's not just about logging miles; it's about carving out that quiet time for myself before the world gets busy. My alarm usually goes off around 5:00 AM, and I try to resist hitting snooze. I find that having my running gear laid out the night before makes a huge difference. A quick splash of cold water on my face, and I'm usually out the door within 15-20 minutes. The drive to the gym is often still dark, and seeing the SPEED LIMIT 55 signs as the sky slowly brightens is a gentle reminder of the world waking up. I usually bring my trusty pink tumbler filled with water, staying hydrated even before I start sweating. It’s part of my "wake up early" strategy to kickstart my body and mind. Once at the gym, I spend about 10-15 minutes on dynamic stretches. This not only warms up my muscles but also gets me mentally ready for the run ahead. Then, it's onto the treadmill. My training plan, often from Runna, dictates my mileage and pace for the day. For an 'easy run' morning, like the one I just shared, I focus on maintaining a conversational pace. Seeing my white sports watch display 8.51 miles covered in 1:14:35 at an 8'46" pace is always satisfying. It’s a testament to the fact that even 'easy' runs are crucial for building endurance and preventing injury during marathon training. Sometimes, I'll wear a comfy sweatshirt like my PACIFIC SUNWEAR LOS ANGELES one, especially if it's chilly on the way to the gym, before changing into my running attire. After I finish my run, it's a quick cool-down and some static stretching. I often visualize the finish line of my next race to keep my motivation high. The drive home is usually much brighter, and I quickly jump into my post-run routine. This involves a quick shower, a nutritious breakfast, and getting ready for work. I have to be super efficient to make it work! I might throw on a cozy white quilted jacket with pink floral patterns over my clothes, especially on cooler mornings, as I transition from runner to professional. This early morning routine, while demanding, gives me an incredible sense of accomplishment. It ensures I get my essential marathon training in, no matter how hectic the rest of my day becomes. It’s my secret weapon for showing up strong on race day and feeling prepared for anything. If you're considering marathon training or just looking to kickstart your mornings, I highly recommend finding a routine that works for you. It truly transforms your day and helps you achieve those big goals!

6 Tips to Stay Motivated During Marathon Training
Marathon training is a long and hard 16-18 week training block. It takes a lot of time commitment and energy out of your life. Burnout does happen especially mid to end of training when your mileage is super high. It’s so important to still live your life and if you have to skip a run that’s okay!

Marathon training as a slow runner
So I was extremely sore after this for 3 days even though I consciously didn’t push the weights. So that was fun. And the last 3 weeks have had some disruption to my routine so I’ve been a little off of my training. So I’m hoping to get back into a good routine next week! #marathon #mara

training for LA marathon as a mom

Benefits of a tempo run during marathon training

Half Marathon Training Plan
Last week I ran my first half marathon in almost 2 years!! I had taken a break from longer distances and stuck to 5 and 10Ks for a while since that’s what I enjoy most! But training for this half helped me get motivated to do longer runs and actually ignited a new love for longer (for me) runs!

The mistakes that I made. First of all, if you’re going to do a long run it’s probably better to do it first thing in the morning and have nothing else planned that day. This is important so that you can do the proper recovery and stretching. secondly, make sure you properly fuel yourself, I had to
