I was so hyped for a packed schedule of beats and good vibes, especially with so many amazing DJs in town. The rumors of a 'storm coming to LA' started swirling, but honestly, I think we all just hoped it would blow over. The initial lineup was insane! I had my eyes set on the FIKAFIKAFIKA event by 24EIGHT & CO., picturing myself dancing the night away at 2388 E 8th St with Juos and 8onthebeat. And of course, the thought of seeing Mochakk and Beltran was a huge draw. But then, the dreaded 'IMPORTANT EVENT UPDATE' hit from thisisframework. My heart sank when I saw Beltran was cancelled and Mochakk's set was postponed until December 13. It felt like the storm wasn't just bringing rain, but also a cloud over my perfectly planned weekend! Navigating these sudden changes can be a real drag, especially when you're geared up for a 'storm bender' of epic proportions. But hey, when life gives you cancelled concerts, you find comfort food! That's exactly what my girls and I did. Instead of battling the elements, we decided to hit up Chili's. And let me tell you, no one gets sad with a triple dipper! It was an unexpected, but much-needed, pivot to keep the good times rolling, even if the soundtrack was more pop hits than house music. Despite the weather woes, some parts of the 'bender' still shone through. We heard great things about Franck Zorza's set with Kitty Logic and Nina J on Saturday, and Nina at the afters was definitely on some people's radar. And who could forget the epic 'CASA AMIGOS' event at The Roxy in West Hollywood, featuring Bolo and rommii? That one was completely sold out and was slated to wrap up the weekend. It just goes to show, even with a storm trying to ruin the fun, LA's nightlife finds a way. My biggest takeaway from this 'storm bender' experience? Always have a backup plan, and don't underestimate the power of good company and a Chili's triple dipper! It was a rollercoaster, but we made the most of it. So if you're ever planning a wild weekend in LA, keep an eye on the weather, but know that the spirit of the 'bender' will always find a way to thrive, rain or shine (or storm!).
