I Signed Up on Groupon for Aerial Silks & Intro Pole… and loved it✨
So I did a thing.
I saw a Groupon for aerial silks and intro pole and thought, “This is going to be cute, graceful, maybe even healing.” Like I was about to float through the air, channel main character energy, and leave class glowing.
Reality said: girl… be serious.
First of all, nobody warns you that your arms will suddenly become the weakest part of your entire identity. Like I went in confident and left questioning whether I’ve ever actually used my upper body for anything important in my life.
Aerial silks had me feeling like a majestic butterfly for exactly 3 seconds… followed by me realizing I am, in fact, gravity’s favorite target. Pole class? Let’s just say spinning looks elegant until it meets your grip strength and humbles you in real time.
And the soreness.
Listen.
My back, arms, and shoulders are currently in a group chat talking about “we need to process what just happened.” Even lifting my water bottle feels like a small personal achievement. I didn’t know muscles I’ve never met could still be this offended.
But here’s the plot twist: I kind of loved it.
It looks intimidating, but that’s exactly why it’s worth trying.
Aerial silks and pole force you to use your body in a way most of us never do—lifting, holding, trusting your own strength instead of just “trying to look fit.” And yes, it will humble you in the best way possible.
You’ll shake, laugh, slip a little, and realize strength isn’t about perfection, it’s about showing up and learning.
The soreness after? Real. Your arms and back will absolutely have opinions. But it’s the kind of soreness that comes from growth, not defeat.
And the biggest surprise is how powerful you feel afterward—like, “wait… I can actually do that?”
Try it at least once. Not to be good at it. Just to meet a stronger version of yourself you didn’t know was there💗

Trying aerial silks and pole fitness for the first time was a surprisingly rewarding challenge that pushed me beyond my usual workout routine. What I didn’t expect before starting was how these activities engage muscles that I rarely use in everyday life, especially the upper body and core. The constant pulling, gripping, and balancing required in aerial silks and pole workouts make you realize how crucial grip strength and muscle endurance are — something I had taken for granted until my arms were shaking midway through each exercise. One thing worth mentioning is the mental impact of these classes. At first, the fear of falling or not being able to complete moves was real, but the supportive environment in the beginner classes helped me gain confidence gradually. Each small victory, like holding a pose a few seconds longer or spinning without slipping, felt empowering. This mental boost is a hidden benefit of aerial and pole fitness that doesn’t get enough attention. Another point to highlight is the post-workout soreness. While it might feel intimidating initially, this soreness is actually a sign of muscle growth and strength building. Staying consistent, even with the mild discomfort, truly improved my stamina and muscle tone over a few sessions. I started noticing my posture getting better and even my daily activities felt easier. If you’re considering trying aerial silks or pole fitness, I highly recommend starting with a trial session like the Groupon deal I used. It’s affordable, fun, and gives you a glimpse of what mastering your body in unconventional ways feels like. Patience and persistence are key — you won’t be perfect from the start, but showing up regularly will reveal a stronger, more confident version of yourself. And who knows? You might just fall in love with these artistic and athletic forms of fitness as I did.
