Beginner DIY Nails
WELCOME GUYSSSS☺️ my name is Josephine! I was tired of spending hella money getting my nails done, I won’t lie! So this year I’m becoming the DIY Queen in my life. I’ve been dedicated to doing my own hair and nails so please consider following me on this journey!
So the nails I have on right now is actually Gel-X press one by a company called TIPEX and honestly I have been loving it. My nails NEVER fall off. I know that the application is not perfect yet. This is my 4th time doing this. I get better and better every time, and that is really what I want to showcase on this account. It will be a way to not only encourage other people that may be thinking about starting and is hesitant or just to show myself how far I’ve come over time. I’m telling you, if you are thinking about starting your own nails just do it! You won’t regret it!

Hey everyone! So, like many of you, I was spending a fortune at the nail salon and thought, “There has to be a better way!” That’s when my journey into DIY gel nails began, and let me tell you, it's been incredibly rewarding. If you're a beginner debating whether to jump into at-home gel nails, I'm here to tell you: do it! It might seem daunting at first, but with a few essential tools and some practice, you’ll be rocking salon-quality nails without the hefty price tag. First things first, what do you really need to get started with beginner gel nails? Beyond just the wonderful Gel-X press-ons I adore, a basic starter kit is key. You'll definitely want a good UV/LED nail lamp – this is non-negotiable for curing gel. Look for one with different timer settings. Next, invest in a quality nail dehydrator and primer; these are crucial for achieving that amazing 3-week retention everyone talks about. They help strip away natural oils and create a strong bond, preventing lifting. Don't forget a fine grit nail file and a good cuticle pusher! My personal hack for flawless application is to always, always push back and clean up my cuticles thoroughly before starting. It makes a huge difference in how neat and long-lasting your set will be. When it comes to application, especially for those long coffin nails or other extension shapes, proper technique with your nail glue is vital. Apply a small bead of gel glue to the inside of the nail tip, making sure to get it all the way to the cuticle area without flooding it. Press the tip onto your natural nail at a 45-degree angle, slowly pushing out any air bubbles, then flash cure under your lamp. This ensures a secure fit and prevents moisture from getting underneath, which can cause issues down the line. I’ve found that taking my time with each finger, especially in the early days, really helped me improve my technique. Another tip for beginners: don't be afraid to experiment with different gel types. While press-ons are fantastic, you might eventually want to try builder gel or even just a simple gel polish mani. The principles of good nail prep and careful application remain the same. And remember, practice makes perfect! My first few attempts weren't flawless, but each time I learned something new. It’s all part of the fun of becoming your own nail tech and giving yourself those stunning, long-lasting nails right from home. Happy DIYing!
