Haircare

#hairisaprivilege as a kid I had wavy hair. As an adult I never used curly hair products and I had a lot of hair so it seemed straight. Always poofy but just straight. Well after highlights, bleaching it completely, lightening it, dying it red, and multiple terrible haircuts we are back to natural hair and it’s sort of curly. Idrk what to do with curly hair but I’ve started working on it and I love it tbh. It’s still poofy and a little too heavy in some spots but I’m happy with it. Better than what it was. Did u guys ever have “straight hair” and realize it was actually wavy or curly?? #curlyhairjourney

... Read moreGrowing up with wavy hair and later treating it with multiple chemical processes like bleaching and dyeing can drastically change the hair’s natural texture and health. Through my own haircare journey, I’ve realized that embracing natural curls involves patience and finding the right routine to reduce poofiness and balance weight in the hair. Starting with understanding your hair type is essential. Curly hair tends to be drier and more prone to frizz since the natural oils from the scalp don’t easily travel down the hair shaft. Incorporating moisturizing shampoos and conditioners specifically designed for curly or wavy hair can make a big difference. Avoiding harsh sulfates helps preserve natural oils and reduces dryness. One of the things I found helpful is to introduce deep conditioning treatments weekly, which restore moisture and elasticity. Using leave-in conditioners and curl creams also enhances curl definition and controls frizz. It takes some trial and error to find products that suit your hair without weighing it down. Another tip is to minimize heat styling tools that can cause further damage to already processed hair. Air drying and diffusing on low heat help preserve the natural curl pattern. Also, sleeping on a satin pillowcase reduces friction and hair breakage. As your curls regain health and shape, trimming split ends regularly keeps them looking fresh and prevents heaviness in certain areas. I also discovered protective hairstyles and gentle detangling methods to maintain hair integrity. Remember, haircare is a personal journey. Embracing your natural curls means learning what works best for your hair’s unique texture and needs. Celebrate your hair’s evolution and enjoy the confidence that comes with loving your natural look.

Mine would be frizzy and curly at the ends. I’m still in the process of finding a routine for it but haven’t had the patience for it😂.
