Mini Book Haul
After I read The Seven Year Slip, I wanted to check out more Ashley Poston books, so I grabbed a couple more. 😍 and of course had to grab Alaina’s new book (had it preordered 😝). I heard that A Love Letter To Whiskey was good and would make me cry (?), so I had to get it. Last, but definitely not least, I got The Black Farm, Return To The Black Farm and Lights Out to read in October. 🖤 definitely excited about this little haul. 🤩
Okay, so I’m still buzzing from my latest book haul, especially snagging Elias Witherow's highly talked-about 'The Black Farm' and its sequel, 'Return To The Black Farm.' Honestly, when I saw them, I knew they had to be mine, perfect for diving headfirst into some truly dark reads. For anyone who hasn't delved into Witherow's work, prepare yourselves. He's known for pushing boundaries in horror, creating worlds that are not just scary but genuinely unsettling and thought-provoking. I've heard 'The Black Farm' isn't for the faint of heart, often categorized as extreme horror, and that’s exactly what piqued my interest. It’s supposed to be a visceral experience, exploring themes that really stick with you long after the last page. From what I gather, it's not just jump scares; it's psychological torment and atmospheric dread wrapped in a disturbing narrative. What really draws me to authors like Elias Witherow is their ability to craft stories that make you question things, that linger in your mind and perhaps even challenge your perceptions of horror. 'The Black Farm' specifically has garnered a reputation for its unique blend of grotesque imagery and a storyline that some describe as a modern classic in the extreme horror subgenre. It’s the kind of book that ignites conversations, and I’m eager to see why it’s made such a significant impact on readers. I'm always on the lookout for books that offer something truly different, and this one seems to promise just that – a deep dive into the macabre that isn't afraid to go to dark places. And then there’s 'Return To The Black Farm,' which makes me even more excited. Often, sequels in this genre can either hit it out of the park or fall flat, but I have high hopes for Witherow's continuation of this terrifying saga. It’s rare to find an author who can maintain that level of intensity and originality across multiple books set in the same universe. I’m curious to see how the world, characters, and horrors evolve in the follow-up. Will it be even darker? Will it expand on the existing mythology? These are the questions that make a book haul truly thrilling! Beyond Witherow, I also picked up 'Lights Out: An Into Darkness Novel' by Navessa Allen. From what I’ve heard, Navessa Allen is another author who knows how to craft a gripping and intense story. While perhaps not in the same extreme horror vein as Witherow, 'Lights Out' seems to promise a chilling experience, focusing on suspense and perhaps a more psychological thriller aspect. It’s always good to have a mix in a book haul, right? This one looks like it will keep me on the edge of my seat with its dark atmosphere. Reading these alongside each other will be an interesting journey, exploring different facets of fear and suspense. I’m planning to save these for my October reading list, to really immerse myself in the spooky season vibe. There’s something about the crisp autumn air and longer nights that just begs for a good horror novel. If you've read 'The Black Farm' or any other Elias Witherow books, I'd love to hear your spoiler-free thoughts! Or if you have other extreme horror recommendations that really blew your mind, please share. I’m always adding to my TBR pile!
