Competitive dancer

As a competitive dancer, you can never be overpacked with the essentials: in this slideshow, I included a lot of the essentials.

Bag necessities:

You obviously want to start off with a bag. Give yourself drinks and snacks to stay hydrated and to keep something in your system. Always be prepped with the shoes and the proper clothing. I typically have Band-Aids in my bag as well just to be safe. Aquaphor is essential for any dry skin. the stretching and yoga equipment I put above is really good to help you with your flexibility in dance. Pack a hygiene bag with your regular essentials. Make sure to include some deodorant. The knee pads I have above are the ones I have. They’re really good for when you’re doing floor work. You can always customize this to yourself, but these are the essentials. I typically keep in my dance back.

In addition to the essentials mentioned, consider bringing a compact foam roller for muscle relief after intensive practice sessions. It's lightweight and can be conveniently stored in your dance bag. Hydration is key, so invest in a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout competitions and rehearsals. Including protein-packed snacks like nuts or energy bars can help you sustain your energy levels during long practices. You may also want to carry a portable phone charger, as staying connected with your dance community is vital, especially during events. For skin care, it's wise to have sunscreen in your hygiene bag; even indoor studios can have UV exposure, which may damage your skin over time. A small first-aid kit with adhesive bandages and antiseptic wipes can also be handy for emergencies. Your body is your instrument; don’t forget stretching bands to warm up effectively and help prevent injuries. Finally, always customize your dance bag according to your specific routines and practices to suit your unique needs.
