My Personal Curriculum - September 2025
This trend has been circulating TikTok for months, and while I’ve been doing this here and there for years, I’ve never built a curriculum like this for myself before. As someone who loves learning and who homeschools, I was dying to try this out.
What is a personal curriculum? It’s a self-directed learning framework where you create educational plans on things you want to learn about. You can do this however you want; monthly, quarterly, weekly, etc. And with whatever subjects and topics you choose! Once you’re done with the subject or just tired of it, you stop and pick something else. You can pick 1 or more subjects/topics, but don’t overwhelm yourself, this is meant to be fun.
For me, my plans are a combination of things I want to improve on, things for fun, as well as things I will be teaching in my homeschool later on. Yes, this seems like a lot, but I’ve got plenty of time in my day and a doom scrolling habit to kill. I will switch subjects when I’m bored or done with them. There is no length set of time I will focus on any of these areas, if I don’t finish it or want to learn more on a topic I’ll roll it over to next month.
September’s Plans:
📝 Poetry: Reading, Writing Living
For this one I’m aiming to gain knowledge to do a poetry course for my kids. I also want to learn to write poetry.
🧶 The Art of Knots: Knitting, Crocheting, Weaving, Macramé
This is one for fun! And one I’d like to improve on. My focus will be improving my knitting and crocheting skills, and expanding my wardrobe with them. For weaving, this will be new to me and I’m excited. I will also be tying in macramé into this as well.
📚The American Revolution
I have one kid who is into history and this is the topic he wants to cover. I also love history so I’m excited to learn this and then teach it to my kids for their schooling.
✝️ Flourish in Faith: Growing Deep Roots in God’s Word
I’ve been growing my faith deeper, so I’ve put together this curriculum to keep going. It will roll over with every new book or every new Bible study. For September I’ll be learning all about the fruits of the spirit (my morning bible time) and reading Lysa Terkeurst’s book “It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way” to start.
🪴Herbal Remedies
This is one I’ve been really looking forward to, I’ve never found the time 🫣 (doom scrolling and all).
🍪 The Cookie Chronicles
I love to bake! This Christmas I want to gift cookie boxes, but I also want to build my baking recipes up. And who doesn’t love a cookie?? I’ll also be going over history and science with this one and I’m super excited to start it.
💁🏻♀️ Rewriting the Script
This one is for self-growth. I’m starting with the book, Are You Mad at Me, and will roll this one over to a new book and month until I feel like I’m ready to.
🗣️ Spanish
This one I’m learning along side my kids with. We picked a curriculum and will be using duolingo with it.
Soooo, who’s gonna join the curriculum club with me??? What are you learning?

Creating a personal curriculum represents a fantastic way to take control of your education and tailor it exactly to your interests and goals. This self-directed learning method lets you pick subjects you are passionate about, whether for personal enrichment, homeschooling, or expanding skills. For example, the September curriculum includes diverse topics ranging from literature and arts to history and spirituality, illustrating how well-rounded and flexible this approach can be. Diving into poetry with a focus on reading and writing not only enhances literary skills but also cultivates creativity and emotional expression. Combining this with hands-on crafts like knitting, crocheting, weaving, and macramé brings a tactile, productive element to learning, enriching fine motor skills and patience. Introducing weaving as a new skill alongside macramé highlights the excitement and challenge of adding fresh crafts into one’s repertoire. History lovers, particularly homeschooling families, benefit greatly by engaging deeply with subjects like the American Revolution. This hands-on, interest-led study can spark a lifelong passion for understanding the past and its relevance today. Similarly, spiritual growth through Bible study and exploring concepts such as the fruits of the spirit can foster personal development and inner peace over time. Exploring herbal remedies opens up a world of natural health and wellness knowledge, connecting you to traditional practices and modern herbal insights, and it’s perfect for those seeking healthier lifestyle choices. The culinary arts, exemplified by "The Cookie Chronicles," add a delicious and scientific twist to your learning. Baking cookies not only requires following recipes but understanding the chemistry involved, making it educational and fun. Self-growth topics like "Rewriting the Script" encourage reflection and emotional intelligence development, helping learners to navigate their personal journeys and relationships more effectively. Learning a new language like Spanish alongside children using tools like Duolingo promotes family bonding and cognitive benefits. Altogether, this curriculum shows how blending varied interests — from language and history to crafts and faith — into a personalized learning plan keeps education engaging, productive, and deeply satisfying. It also demonstrates the power of flexible timing and self-paced progression, encouraging learners to follow their curiosity and enjoyment rather than strict deadlines. The key takeaway is that learning is a lifelong, joyful exploration that you can design yourself according to your unique passions and lifestyle.

I love this! I saw it all over Substack and want to post it on here too!! 🔥❤️
