... Read moreHey everyone! You know those days when you just need a little pick-me-up? That's exactly why I started journaling my "20 Things That Make Me Happy" list. It’s been such an eye-opener and truly helps me embrace vulnerability by focusing on the good stuff. Like, seriously, who knew a simple list could be so powerful? It's more than just jotting down items; it's a powerful tool for self-discovery and gratitude. When I feel a bit down or overwhelmed, simply looking at my handwritten list reminds me of all the blessings in my life. It helps me appreciate everything, from the big moments to the small, everyday joys. It's almost like a little happiness cheat sheet for my brain! So, how do you start your own "things that make you happy list"? Grab a notebook – perhaps a cute spiral-bound one like mine! Don't overthink it. Just let your thoughts flow freely. Think about what truly brings a smile to your face, a warmth to your heart, or a sense of peace. For me, it ranges from deep spiritual connections like "God" and the unwavering support of "family" and "friends," to simpler pleasures that brighten my day. For instance, my list includes things like the comforting sound of "R&B music" playing in the background – it just sets the mood perfectly! Or the refreshing taste of a cold "Dr. Pepper," which is my go-to treat. It also features a bit of "retail therapy" – finding a great deal when "shopping" for new "glasses" or "shoes," maybe even something fun from "Shein." Even my "job" makes the list because of the sense of purpose and accomplishment it brings. These are just some examples from my own list, but yours will be uniquely you! To get started, think about your senses: what do you love to see, hear, taste, smell, touch? What activities make you lose track of time? Is it a cozy blanket, the smell of fresh coffee, a specific song, or a peaceful walk in nature? Don't forget to include your achievements, your passions, and the people who consistently lift you up. Every little thing counts, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant. The beauty of this exercise is that your list is dynamic. It can evolve! I love revisiting it, adding new items as I discover them, and sometimes even seeing how my priorities shift over time. It’s a wonderful way to practice mindfulness and remind yourself of the abundance in your life, even on tough days. It helps me focus on the positive and appreciate my unique journey. I really, really encourage you to try making your own "things that make me happy list." It's a simple yet profound exercise that can totally shift your perspective and bring more joy into your daily life. What would be on your list?
