The margaritas got me!!!

5/6 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so after my wild Cinco de Mayo night, I've been thinking a lot about those delicious margaritas! It really got me wondering about all the different ways to enjoy them and what makes the perfect one. First off, let's talk tequila. For a classic margarita, I usually go for a good quality blanco (silver) tequila. It’s crisp and lets the lime really shine. But if you like a smoother, slightly oakier flavor, a reposado can be amazing. It adds a bit more depth, especially if you're experimenting with different fruit margaritas. I once had a reposado margarita that was just next level – the bartender really knew their stuff! Now, for those of us who love a good drink but also keep an eye on our waistline, the calories in margaritas can be a bit of a shocker! A standard margarita can easily hit 300-400 calories, especially if it’s made with lots of simple syrup or a pre-made mix. My go-to tip for a lighter version is to ask for fresh lime juice, less agave nectar (or a sugar-free alternative), and skip the triple sec if you want to really cut down. Sometimes, I even just do tequila, fresh lime, and a splash of soda water for a super refreshing, low-cal twist. It’s all about fresh ingredients! And what goes better with margaritas than tacos? Seriously, they're a match made in heaven. I love how the tangy lime and tequila cut through the richness of carnitas or al pastor tacos. Fish tacos with a zesty slaw are also incredible with a classic margarita. Last week, I found this amazing little spot that serves street-style tacos, and their house margarita was perfect with them. It’s all about finding that balance! Speaking of amazing drinks, have you ever heard of or tried an "El Bebe"? It’s often used as a playful term for a potent, often smaller, version of a classic drink – basically, a little baby that packs a punch! I've heard some Daiquiri & Sports Bars or even Koozies Drive Thru spots have their own versions of these super-strong, delicious concoctions. It's like a secret menu item for those in the know who want a powerful, flavorful kick without downing a huge glass. Always ask your bartender for recommendations if you’re looking for something unique and strong – they often have hidden gems like an 'El Bebe' that aren't on the main menu!
