creativity and ADHD

From what we understand, those with ADHD have very creative open minds. We see things others do not and can connect patterns in an above average fashion.

That, and creative outlets are so calming for our racing minds.

However, because we have a tendency to start and then not finish, creative projects (even the great ones) tend to die before given light which is a shame because I can imagine that there are many out there needing whatever it is that someone hasn't finished yet.

This creativity stems from their ability to see connections that may go unnoticed by others. To maximize these traits, structured approaches combined with creative outlets can be beneficial. One effective strategy is to partner with a fellow creative. Brainstorming your ideas can help you develop a solid plan and keep motivation high. Dive into discussions about logistics and identify the first three actionable steps to initiate your creative process. Implementing daily visuals can significantly enhance focus. Consider creating large visual reminders of your goals, using paper or digital platforms to map out your entire plan. Additionally, collaborating with a “body double”—a person who can sit alongside you while you work—can create an ambient focus, making it easier to maintain attention and accountability. Consistent encouragement and creative partnership can transform the way you approach your projects. Furthermore, remember that creativity doesn’t always need to lead to finished products. Emphasizing the process over perfection can liberate you from the pressure of completion. By fostering a supportive environment that celebrates your creative impulses, you can ensure that your ideas see the light and benefit the broader community.
