3 years post-VSG & still figuring it out🌸

Having undergone VSG (Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy) surgery and lost over 100 pounds, I can personally attest that the physical transformation is just one part of the journey. Three years post-op, I’m still learning to navigate the emotional and psychological changes that come with such a significant life shift. One of the toughest challenges I faced was managing my body image — even after drastic weight loss, my mind sometimes struggled to catch up with my new appearance, which is common among VSG patients. Food addiction recovery is another ongoing battle. Although VSG helps physically by reducing stomach size and limiting food intake, the deep-seated relationship we have with food goes beyond quantity. Rebuilding healthy habits and emotional coping mechanisms took time, patience, and sometimes support from others who understand this unique journey. Confidence didn’t automatically return with weight loss either. It required intentional self-reflection and learning to accept this new version of myself. For those currently on a similar weight loss path, I want you to know that you’re not alone. Whether it’s facing social situations, discovering what your body can now do, or dealing with moments of doubt, these experiences are valid. Connecting with others who have lost 100 pounds or more helps remind me that transformation is multifaceted and ongoing.
