Straight headstand practice! ✨🫶

One thing I have been struggling with is trying to get my head stand straight. Turns out recording yourself and having a kid stand to your side saying “NOT YET ALMOST!!! Move your feet forward a little more!!” To let you know when you are straight it helps a lot.

Hahaha Turns out it feels weird to straighten for me.

If you’re also having this issue. It feels like your pulling your stomach in and like your bending towards a sit position even when straight*

We got it though!!!!! Took me a minute and had to find my balance first for a few seconds haha

Yay to progress! 👏👏👏👏👏👏

... Read morePracticing a straight headstand can feel quite challenging at first, especially when it comes to finding that perfect balance and body alignment. One effective technique that helped me dramatically was recording my practice sessions. Watching the footage gave me real-time feedback on how my body was aligned and where adjustments were necessary. It’s amazing how small tweaks, like nudging your feet slightly forward, can make a big difference in your posture. Another tip I found invaluable was having someone else observe and guide me during my practice. In my case, having a kid beside me saying things like “NOT YET, ALMOST! Move your feet forward a little more!” was unexpectedly encouraging and helpful. It kept me mindful of staying straight, which can feel quite unnatural at first because you might feel like you’re pulling your stomach in or curling into a sit-up position even when you’re actually straight. Core strength is crucial for a successful and controlled headstand. Incorporating core exercises such as planks and hollow-body holds into your routine can build the necessary stability to maintain that straight posture. Strength training coupled with regular practice not only improves your balance but also reduces the fear of falling, making the transition into a full headstand smoother. Finding your balance initially only takes a few seconds of practice each time, but it’s that short moment that builds your confidence to hold the pose longer. It’s important to be patient with yourself and celebrate the small wins along the way—as I did when I finally managed to straighten up and hold it, the sense of accomplishment was rewarding. Remember, progress in headstand practice is not just about the physical pose but also about connecting with your body’s signals, adjusting your form mindfully, and being persistent. If you’re facing similar challenges, keep practicing with these approaches and enjoy the journey to mastering your headstand!
