Hey beauties! Like many of you, I spent years looking in the mirror and asking myself, "What is my hair type?" It felt like a mystery, and without knowing the answer, choosing the right products and creating an effective hair care routine was a constant struggle. But trust me, once you crack the code to your unique hair, everything changes for the better! Let's dive into different hair types and textures. The most common system used for hair typing is the Andre Walker Hair Typing System, which categorizes hair from Type 1 (straight) to Type 4 (coily). Understanding this is key to unlocking your hair's full potential. Type 1: Straight Hair – This hair type has no natural curl. It tends to be oily because the sebum from the scalp can easily travel down the straight strand. 1A: Pin-straight, very fine, soft, and shiny. 1B: Straight but with some body and medium texture. 1C: Straight but generally thick and coarse, with some slight bends. Type 2: Wavy Hair – This hair type has a definite S-pattern but isn't quite curly. 2A: Fine, easily straightened, and has a loose, subtle wave. 2B: Medium texture with more defined S-shaped waves, often a bit frizzier at the crown. 2C: Thicker, coarser waves that are well-defined and can be prone to frizz. Type 3: Curly Hair – This hair forms distinct loops and spirals. 3A: Large, loose curls, often the size of a sidewalk chalk stick. 3B: Bouncy, springy curls, often the size of a Sharpie marker. 3C: Tightly packed corkscrew curls, often the size of a pencil.
